Metal Wall Panel and Longboard Wood Grain Roofing Project at Orthopedic Associates of Wausau

metal wall panel longboard wood grainQuality Roofing has been doing a variety of work at Orthopedic Associates of Wausau (OAW), an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in injuries and illness that impacts bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons. Last fall, a crew of 10-12 installed a slope membrane roof on this new structure. Since January, they have been installing metal wall panels.

“The wall panel project has been unique because it involves three different types of panels: a corrugated metal panel, an aluminum composite panel, and a longboard wood grain panel,” said Project Manager Lucas Kramer. “With the longboard wood grain, we are doing a vented soffit system. That is unique because a lot of the canopies are square, but we are installing this one at an angle. It gives it a different look at you walk under it.”

As a new construction project, Quality Roofing assisted with color selection of the wall panels, as well as installation of gutters and downspouts.

“It has been a big project,” said Kramer. “You can see the project really nicely from the highway, too.”

  • Standing Seam Metal Roof Installed for Wausau Drinking Water

Standing Seam Metal Roof Installed for Wausau Drinking Water

metal roof contractorQuality Roofing crews have been hard at work on a new facility for Wausau Drinking Water. The 40,000 square foot standing seam metal roof has been a team effort, with a team of ten assisting on any given day.

Last fall, QRI completed the insulating and ice/water protection for the roof before mother nature arrived with snow. Now, they are putting the finishing touches on the roof by installing the standing seam.

“Other than it being a pretty large standing seam roof, there isn’t a lot out of the ordinary with it,” said Lucas Kramer, project manager. “They are pretty long panel runs so we’re hoisting the machine above the roof with the crane, which is unique.”

Quality Roofing’s sheet metal team is assisting with the project because of the long panel runs involved.

“With standing seam roofs, they are usually on a sloped application so you can see it from the ground. This is why they choose something that is a little more decorative. You can pick and choose your colors, rather than just putting a black roof up there,” said Kramer, adding that he is impressed with the teamwork on this project.

“I’m proud of the guys and the production they’ve shown to this point,” he said.

  • Commercial Roof Snow Removal Services Necessary in Wisconsin

Commercial Roof Snow Removal Services Necessary in Wisconsin

snow removal servicesLast week, the Quality Roofing team were on-site at a new construction building for Weston Municipal conducting snow removal operations. With a crane, snowblower, and manpower, it took 4-5 hours to remove 300 square feet of heavy snow accumulation.

“With the help of the general contractor and their crane operator we were able to clear the roof of snow,” said Lucas Kramer, project manager. “Being in Wisconsin, the nature of the beast has created some snow on the roof where we need to lay the new roof system and we have to remove that.”

Commercial roof snow removal is not unusual in Wisconsin.

“This time of year, we usually have to do some snow removal,” said Kramer. “It is pretty physical work. Fortunately, in the last couple of years, the snowfall hasn’t been as much as normal and we’ve had some thaws before it could equate to a lot of weight.”

A few years ago, it was not uncommon to hear of buildings collapsing from the weight of snow. Snow removal helped protect the building’s structural integrity, as well as people inside.

“We’re here for anybody that needs help, whether we installed your roof or not,” said Kramer. “The job in Weston involved a crane because the building is big. Instead of trying to hike all the snow to the roof edge, we shoveled it onto basically a tarp that had straps on it. Once it was shoveled onto the tarps, we could remove it. It’s a well oiled machine. We even had some guys putting a snowblower on the roof.”

uw lacrosse roofQuality Roofing is in the process of completing a Ballasted EPDM roof at UW-LaCrosse. Also known as a flat roof, rock roof, or membrane roof systems, this is a very common roof system with which QRI is very familiar.

“Quality Roofing is the General Prime Contractor for the state of Wisconsin on this project. We are managing the entirety of this project as well as performing the roof replacement,” said Lucas Kramer, Project Coordinator/Estimator.

The work consists of replacing an old ballasted EPDM with a new one, involving 8-12 workers. B&B Restoration is the masonry subcontractor on this project.

“While doing this, we are also installing a vapor barrier and increasing the R-value. We also have a masonry subcontractor that is installing new brick, brick flashing, and wall weeps,” added Kramer.

The project is expected to conclude in November. Learn more about what Quality Roofing can do for your commercial roof by contacting our friendly team today!
