Library Green Roof in Eau Claire, Wisconsin

library green roof eau claireIn addition to the 26,000 sf TPO roof Quality Roofing recently completed some “green roofs” at L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The project featured 500 square feet of live plants, and paver patio on the 3rd floor level of the building.

“It’s unique and different,” said Lucas Kramer, project manager. “There’s also no green thumb required as the plants are self-sustaining with their own irrigation system.”

The project’s architect decided which plants to use and Quality Roofing’s team assembled the roof using 8” module trays. In addition to the live plants Quality Roofing also installed 2,800 square feet of 4” modules full of sedum mat. This was installed at location where windows overlooked roof areas.

“Our teams are skilled in a variety of roofing materials, and green roofing is one area in which we’ve expanded in recent years,” said Kramer. “That being said, we provide on-the-job training for anyone willing to learn. It’s a great career and rewarding to work on projects of this significance.”

“Portions of this project were new and others were re-roofing,” said David Peters, project manager. “The end design features a unique look in the wall panels, giving it a professional yet stylish look.”

Crews enjoyed working outside on this project and seeing the one-of-a-kind design come together.

“It’s always rewarding to see a project through from start to finish,” said Peters. “Our team did a great job.”

  • Sloped DECRA Metal Roofing Project at Woodson Art Museum

Sloped DECRA Metal Roofing Project at Woodson Art Museum

sloped decra metal roofThe Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin is one of Central Wisconsin’s most beloved destinations. Quality Roofing has a longstanding relationship with the museum, most recently installing a sloped roof.

“This project has been unique because we don’t work on a lot of sloped roofs,” said Lucas Kramer, Project Manager. “About 5-6 years ago, we completed a different portion of the roof for the museum. Last year, we completed a paver patio, which is a walk-out patio on the roof. They’ve been a really good customer to work with.”

Working in conjunction with a general contractor (who completed the demolition), QRI is installing a DECRA tile metal granulated shingle.

“There are different install instructions for a product like this, so that has been a welcome challenge for the team,” said Kramer. “The type of work is unique in and of itself, too, as we don’t work with many sloping roofs. The team has done great with it.”

Because the roof can be seen from the ground, Kramer said he and the team are very conscious of making it look the very best.

“The project has had its challenges, but everyone has done great work,” he said.

  • Dane Co Airport Terminal Roofing Project

Dane Co Airport Terminal Roofing Project

dane county airport roofQuality Roofing is proud to have previously completed several projects for Dane County Airport and is currently working on a new terminal building.

“It’s a pretty large project. We started in April,” said Lucas Kramer, Project Manager.

The project is for a rubber membrane roof, something that Quality Roofing’s team is very familiar with installing.

“We’re doing all the layers of insulation,” said Kramer. “It’s a pretty standard project, but one thing that is unique is it’s pretty cool to see an F16 or Apache helicopter take off when you’re on top of the roof.”

Due to being work at an airport, there are also extra levels of security involved with the project.

“It’s pretty in-depth,” said Kramer. “It involves online testing, a background check, and an in-house test.”

Kramer said the team is doing a great job on this project, which involves extensive crane work.
