library green roof eau claireIn addition to the 26,000 sf TPO roof Quality Roofing recently completed some “green roofs” at L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The project featured 500 square feet of live plants, and paver patio on the 3rd floor level of the building.

“It’s unique and different,” said Lucas Kramer, project manager. “There’s also no green thumb required as the plants are self-sustaining with their own irrigation system.”

The project’s architect decided which plants to use and Quality Roofing’s team assembled the roof using 8” module trays. In addition to the live plants Quality Roofing also installed 2,800 square feet of 4” modules full of sedum mat. This was installed at location where windows overlooked roof areas.

“Our teams are skilled in a variety of roofing materials, and green roofing is one area in which we’ve expanded in recent years,” said Kramer. “That being said, we provide on-the-job training for anyone willing to learn. It’s a great career and rewarding to work on projects of this significance.”
